Our commitment

At Diwan Cafe, hospitality is at the heart of everything we do. We want everyone to be able to use this website and to visit our cafe at 5125 Schaefer Rd, Dearborn, MI 48126, including people who use assistive technologies such as screen readers, keyboard navigation, or screen magnification. We treat accessibility as an ongoing effort and we work to improve the experience over time.

Standards we aim for

We use the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 level AA as our target. These guidelines, published by the World Wide Web Consortium, are a widely recognized standard for making web content more accessible to people with a broad range of abilities. We aim to meet this standard across the pages we control, and we keep it in mind as we add or update content.

What we have done

Across this website we have taken a number of steps to support accessibility:

• Semantic HTML and clear landmarks, so the structure of each page can be understood by assistive technologies.
• Keyboard navigation with visible focus styles, so the site can be used without a mouse and the current position is easy to see.
• A skip to content link at the top of every page, so keyboard and screen reader users can jump straight to the main content.
• Respect for the prefers reduced motion setting, so animations are reduced for visitors who prefer less movement.
• Descriptive alternative text on meaningful images, so the content of those images is available to screen reader users.
• Attention to color contrast between text and its background, so content stays readable.
• Scalable text that can be enlarged in the browser without breaking the layout.

Known limitations

Some parts of this site rely on third party embedded content that we do not build or control, and that content may not be fully accessible:

• The Instagram reel and other embedded social content.
• The AppFront ordering site used for ordering, accounts, payments, and rewards.
• The Google Maps embed used to show our location and directions.

Because these features come from outside providers, their accessibility depends on those providers. If one of them creates a barrier for you, please contact us and we will do our best to help you another way, such as taking your order or giving directions by phone.
