Our Story
More than a cafe.
A community gathering place built on authentic Yemeni coffee, tea, desserts, and warm hospitality.
Our story
Where Yemeni coffee becomes community.
Established in 2019, Diwan Cafe became the second ever Yemeni coffee shop, helping shape the rise of Yemeni coffee culture in the community. Built around authentic coffee, tea, desserts, and hospitality, Diwan is more than a cafe, a gathering place where friends, families, students, and the community come together.
What makes Diwan different is that it was never meant to be just a coffee shop. It is a community setting, a place to gather, study, talk, relax, and connect. People come to linger over authentic Yemeni drinks and desserts, to share a table with old friends or new ones, and to feel at home. The coffee is the reason to walk in; the community is the reason to stay.
Our emblem
The Yemeni ibex.
The ibex, the proud mountain goat of Yemen's highlands, is one of the oldest symbols of the land. Sure footed on the steep, terraced mountains where Yemeni coffee has grown for centuries, it stands for endurance, heritage, and home. We carry the ibex as our emblem to keep Diwan rooted in authentic Yemeni soil: a reminder that every cup we pour traces back to those highlands and the culture that shaped them.
Yemeni heritage
Built on centuries of coffee culture.
Yemen is the birthplace of cultivated coffee, where the first beans were roasted, brewed, and shared in gathering rooms long before the rest of the world knew the cup. Diwan brings that heritage to the table: warm brick, glowing lamps, and patterned seating that echoes the majlis, where coffee and conversation have always belonged together.
Our spaces nod to landmarks like Dar al-Hajar, the rock palace rising from the Yemeni highlands, a symbol of craft, place, and pride. Every detail is chosen to make the room feel like an authentic Yemeni sitting room, reimagined for the community we serve today.
